Scraplift Sunday 12/10

Happy Sunday friends! This last week flew by! So we're back around to another Scraplift Sunday. Today, we are lifting Mary Ann's New Issue layout. See it here!

I used Pink Paislee's Wild Child for my layout and stuck pretty close to the original. My favorite part is the Thickers I used down the striped paper.

Hope you can play along with us! When you do, share it here in our December Challenge album. Can't wait to see yours! XOXO

Free File Friday

Can we say happy Friday?! Oh yeah! I'm up with my first American Crafts Sweater Weather layout for today's Free File Friday challenge! For today's challenge, use any of the cut files to create a layout about any of your holiday activities!

I used two Paper Issues cut files. First, I cut out the Polka Dot Wreath. I loved layering the wreath with ephemera, stickers, and lots of enamel dots. In the middle I added a photo and journaling card with more layers. For my title, I used the Thankful for Family cut file. I love that neither of these cut files are specifically holiday themed, but work great for my winter-sweater-loving layout.

If you have a minute, check out all of the challenges in the Paper Issues Friends and Fans Facebook group. December's challenge album is here! Once you complete a challenge share it with us for a chance to win a gift card to the Paper Issues store! Can't wait to see what you make! XOXO

Scrap Soup

Happy Thursday! I'm so excited about today's layout. For the first time, I played along with Paper Issue's Scrap Soup challenge. Here's how the challenge works. Each month, we have a "recipe" for you to follow as you create your layout. It has to include all the things in the list and then you can add to it as you please! Totally doable, right? Here's December's list:

As soon as I saw this month's list I was inspired by the circles. This layout was so fun to create! To start, I used my Cricut to cut out twelve circles from white cardstock. A circle punch would work just as well. Then I cut out twelve more smaller circles from patterned paper in the Pink Paislee Wild Child collection. I layered them together and arranged them in three rows of five along with three photos I printed and then cut into circles. Lots of circles huh?! Finally, I layered the circles with ephemera and stickers and that's it! Super simple! Hope you like!

We have a great sale going on at Paper Issues. Use the code 30ISGOOD right now to save 30% on your order through the 10th! After that, hop on over and join our FB group to get the next code starting on the 13th! XOXO

Take 5 Tuesday

Happy Tuesday! It's time for Paper Issue's Take 5 Tuesday Challenge! Simply choose 5 things from the list below and include them in your layout! I used 2. Gold, 4. Snowflake, 7. Patterned paper, 9. Journaling, and 10. Cardstock. Check it out:

Now let's talk about my layout! This is my first one with Crate Paper FaLaLa! It's my favorite Christmas/winter collection out this year. I love the color combos, ephemera and especially the chipboard stickers. I made this very cool scarf with one of the free cut files in the store - download it here! The title is also from the same cut file! I backed the scarf with several patterned. Then I added my photo, some snowflakes, and my journaling. To finish, I added the tags and buttons and a few sprinkles of mist! So in love with my first layout of the Christmas season!

Scraplift Sunday 12/3

Happy Sunday! Time for our 1st scraplift of December! Can you believe how fast the holidays are flying by?! I for one cannot. Time slow down please! I'm doing the best I can to find time to scrap in between the craziness of the season. And today's lift is a definite must! We are lifting Elodie. See her original layout here! Her style is awesome and I love how creative she is! I used Pink Paislee Wild Child for my lift! I'm keeping it short and sweet today because Christmas activities are calling my name as I type. Thank you for stopping by! XOXO!

Mega Swag Bag Love

Good morning and happy Monday! I am so excited to show you today's Swag Bag layout! This may be my favorite one of all time! I used October's Bag which had lots of Maggie Holmes' Carousel and Dear Lizzy Star Gazer in it. I absolutely adore both of those lines!

The Swag Bags are awesome because they have so many 3x4 cards (great for layering) and loads of embellishments! I always have plenty for several layouts. My favorite part in last month's kits was the hooray pocket (Interactive cards) and lined tag. I didn't get a set of these when they first came out, so I was so happy to snag one in the Swag Bag. This was my inspiration for my layout! I journaled on the tag (you can pull it out to read the whole story) and then I layered all around it - cards, twine, metal pin, and ticket ephemera. The other big statement piece was the huge (seriously) paper clip from Dear Lizzy! You can find it here!

The rest of the DT is on the Paper Issues blog today showcasing some amazing Swag Bag layouts. The best part is each one is completely different and so inspiring. Also, you can find the newest Bag in the Paper Issues shop! Click here to find it! Save 20% with the code RACHEL! XOXO

Let's Be Thankful

Happy Thanksgiving to all my American scrappy friends! Today at Paper Issues, we are taking time to reflect on all the things we are thankful for with a challenge! We want you to create a project that shows us something (or many things) you are thankful for! I did something I've never done before: I had my boys help me with my scrapbook layout!

I had some Pinkfresh Studio Boys Fort and a little Escape the Ordinary that I wanted to use up. I thought they would be perfect for a boy themed layout. I started by using these awesome alpha stickers for my title. Next, I added the number ephemera from the Boy's Fort collection. Then I asked my boys to come up with five things they are thankful for.  My oldest son (he's 7) wrote them down on the white cardstock. The perfectionist in me cringed a little at the crooked writing, but then in a flash I was so happy with the way it turned out. It's a layout I will cherish forever.

I hope that today you too can find time to be thankful and reflect on those things. And then once, the family is gone and the chaos has settled you can create a layout to tell us all about it! XOXO

Home Is Where The Heart Is

Hello Monday! I can already tell it's going to be a great week! We've been celebrating and enjoying time with family this past weekend. And almost every day this month we (my boys and I) have taken the time to list off several things we are thankful for. Which goes perfectly with this month's New Issue at Paper Issues called Home Is Where the Heart Is. Suggested ideas include:

  • Create a project about your home - your house, a special room inside, renovations, neighborhood, etc.
  • Use heart embellishments,
  • Document November activities
  • Thanksgiving traditions
I knew I wanted to use Cocoa Vanilla Studio because well, it had just arrived on my doorstep and I couldn't wait! It's pretty freaking amazing if you ask me! For my layout, I chose to document photos from our last fall camping trip. We travel a lot but to me home is where ever my boys are. They are my heart and soul!

I kept my layout fairly simple, but used several layers of patterned paper and white cardstock sprayed with purple mist to add depth. My favorite part is the title which  matches perfectly with the Issue's title. It's a free cut file in the Paper Issues' store. Find it here!

Thank you for taking a peek at my layout! Find the other DT layout's on today's Paper Issues' blog post! You won't want to miss their inspiration! XOXO

Try It Tuesday Tag-tastic!

It's time for Try It Tuesday! This month the challenge is to make your own embellishments! If you are used to using a pack of ephemera (my hand is raised high) this might sounds a little ovewhelming at first, but it's really easy. Let me share some ideas!
  • make rosettes
  • layered tags
  • handmade flowers with paper or even ribbon
  • use cut files
  • make a banner
I decided to make some layered tags with Cocoa Vanilla Studio Bohemian Dreams! I'm so glad I got this collection. It's every bit dreamy and whimsical as it looks. Even with a house full of boys I still find plenty of ways to use a more "girly" collection. To make my tags I actually just used two different size tags from another collection as a pattern and cut them out with scissors. Then I piled on the layers with pattenred papers, ephemera and stickers. It really was that simple!

November Pinspire Me

Happy Monday to you! I'm back with another Paper Issues' challenge - November's Pinspire Me! Mary Ann always creates the most beautiful mood boards each month. This one is no exception!

Isn't it lovely?! I had been wanting to use one of the newest leaf cut files in the Paper Issues store and this board was a perfect excuse! I was inspired by both the leaves and colors. I started with white cardstock and then cut out the Open Leaves cut file with a piece of 12x12 paper from the Family & Co. collection by Fancy Pants Designs. I backed a few of the leaves with more patterned papers from the 6x6 pad and then left some open.

I added a black and white photo of my son & my dad from our last camping trip in October. Photos like this one are so special! Then I layered it with lots of patterned paper, ephemera, tags and stickers. I love all the layers! I used enamel dots around the sides for a little extra color. The "sweet" title is from one of my favorite set of Thickers ever - Pebbles Girl Squad!

Feeling inspired yet?! It can be anything you see on the board - pictures, colors, words, etc! Create a layout and then share it with us in the Paper Issues Friends & Fans Facebook group for a chance to win a PI giftcard at the end of the month. XOXO!

Add It Up

I'm back with another Halloween layout! That's two days in a row! I've documented all our Halloween fun with Fancy Pants Spellbound. I love this collection so much because it stands out from your typical Halloween collection. The mint and purple together are so perfect. And then my favorite part is that it's white based as opposed to cream. But I know I've said all this before so let's get down to it!

Today's challenge at Paper Issues is Add It Up! Here's how it works: See the list of items below and create a layout with at least 95 points! The number changes from month to month. Some months are lower numbers which typically create a more bare layout and other months have a larger number which create a more busy layout - my personal favorite.

To reach 95 points, I used 3 photos, lots of patterned paper and ephemera. Then I finished off the layout with buttons and enamel dots!

You can check out the rest of the DT layouts on today's Paper Issues blog. They are always so inspiring. Thanks for stopping by! XOXO

Take 5 Tuesday

Happy Take 5 Tuesday! Who doesn't love this challenge?! It's fun and so easy! If you've never done one of the Paper Issue's challenges this is a great one to start with. Choose five things from the list below and use them in a layout. I chose 5) patterned paper, 8) stripes, 9) animal, 10) cardstock, and 11) circle.

I created a very simple layout with Fancy Pants Spellbound. I was inspired by the abundance of circles in the ephemera as well as the buttons. I started with the Bewitched paper and a smaller piece of white cardstock. I printed my photo and cut it into a circle with my Cricut. Then I added all the circle pieces. I finished with some twine and jounraling around the photo.

Now it's your turn to play! Need more inspiration? Check out today's Paper Issues blog post to get more DT inspiration. XOXO!

SLS 9/5

It's Sunday again! Time for a new week and some new inspiration! Today we are lifting Kelly's Notable Quotable layout from this last week! I stayed pretty true to the lift, but spiced it up just a bit by adding two more strips of paper to the top. And if you didn't know already, I'm using Elle's Studio Family fun collection - again! It's been one of my go to favorites the last couple months.

I had an abundance of photos from our apple picking trip last month so I used four photos too! Then instead of paint splatters I added puffy star stickers and stamped some smaller ones as well. Love it! Hope you can make some time to play with paper today! Thanks for stopping by! XOXO

Let's Get Sketchy!

First Saturday of the month means it's time for a new sketch! I love this sketch because I've always been a fan of grid style layouts! Check out the original:

I started out with Elle's Studio Family Fun. The bright blue background paper is Paper 5 in the collection. I cut a smaller piece of white cardstock and added it on top. I decided to stick with blue, white, black and gray in my layout. I made three of the squares photos and the other three I used patterned paper, tags, and ephemera.

Need some inspiration?! Take it from this sketch and play along with Paper Issues. When you do, share it with us in this album for a chance to win a PI giftcard! Can't wait to see what you make! XOXO

Spooky Free File Friday

Happy Friday! Best day of the week hands down. This Friday, we are sending you into the weekend with a bang and of course, a new Paper Issues challenge. For the first Free File Friday (try to say that 10 times in a row - LOL) of the month, we want you to use one of the Paper Issues cut files to document Fall Fun! Have you seen all the cut files in the Paper Issues store?! Check them out here!

I decided to document our costumes for our friend's annual Halloween costume party. But I stayed away from a typical Halloween cut file and went for the Heart Grid cut file. It's pretty awesome! I knew I wanted to show off all the fun patterns in the Fancy Pant's Spellbound collection. I love this Halloween collection so much - the traditional orange and black with a touch of mint and purple make it to die for! I layered my photo with plenty of ephemera and tags and then added a couple more on the edges of the layout! Spooky perfection!

Shopping in the Paper Issues store?! The new Pink Paislee Wild Child is in the store and you can save 20% with code RACHEL! XOXO

November Notable Quotable

I'm back with another Elle's Studio Family Fun layout. This time I'm playing along with Paper Issue's Notable Quotable challenge. Take a look at this month's quote:

You can take inspiration how ever you like - from the whole quote, one word, color(s), etc. I was inspired by the rainbow colors and hearts. I knew exactly what I wanted to create. I used Page 4 as my base and this fun Heart Line Up cut file. I love the free cut files Stacie creates for Paper Issues. If you haven't noticed - I use them a lot on my layouts. You can browse them all by clicking here! The rainbow paper (Paper 6) from Elle's Studio was like it was made for this challenge! Color perfection!

I added my photos and one of the double sided journaling cards to document our trip to the apple orchard. They're so great for getting all the details down. To finish, I added a few enamel dots and some dramatic Amy Tangerine Thickers! I just love it!

Check out the Paper Issues blog to see more Notable Quotable inspiration and then play along with us! XOXO

2 Cute Friends

Good morning and Happy November! This last month flew by and now we are back with a new round of challenges for the new month. First up is the Working Title challenge. This month, we are playing with numbers - use a number or the number word in your title. I went with "2 sweet friends". Which describes my boys perfectly - best friends and best brothers.

I used Elle's Studio Family Fun for my layout. All of my favorite colors are in this collection. I love the tag for journaling and I really loved adding little details with the heart shaped twine. That sleeping bag flair is from A Flair For Buttons - perfect for documenting our weekend camping trip!

Check out the Paper Issues blog today to see more awesome layouts using numbers and then play along with us in our PIFF Facebook group! XOXO
